The North Carolina Center on
Actual Innocence identified 5
factors that commonly
contribute to wrongful
convictions: mistaken
eyewitness identification, the
use of jailhouse snitches,
prosecutorial misconduct,
ineffective representation by
defense attorneys, and false
confessions.
At Cox’s trial, the jury never heard from several witnesses, all who later
testified that Da’Ron was not present at the crime scene.  The
Honorable Judge Jeffrey Manning recently scheduled a hearing in
Allegheny County Court for December 6, 2007 to fairly adjudicate the
case.  Mr. Cox is once again battling to be given the opportunity, for the
first time, to present his extensive body of exculpatory evidence to the
courts.

Unfortunately, the costs to pay for the hours of legal and investigative
work necessary to reverse an erroneous jury decision on appeal are
great.  The Da’Ron Cox Legal Defense Fund (DCLDF) is a 501 (C)3
Nonprofit dedicated to providing funding for Da’Ron’s legal activities
and to educating people about his case.

As Americans, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are fundamental
rights protected by the Constitution.  When one citizen can be stripped
of these freedoms, then it can happen to any of us.  Please support the
DCLDF with your generous donations and help ensure that Mr. Cox
finally receives his fair day in court.

Seeking Justice for an Innocent Man
From the Executive Director...
As a result of a 10-year investigation, we believe 4 of those 5 factors
played a significant role in the sentencing of Da’Ron Cox to life without
parole for a homicide in which he wasn’t involved.

"Anybody that understands the justice system knows
innocent people are convicted every day."
